Teasel Tincture

Supports healthy detoxification and strengthens energetic boundaries. An ally for bone and immune health.*

Botanical Name: Dipsacus sylvestris.

Part Used: Fresh root.

About Teasel Tincture: The Teasel plant has big spiky stalks from which thistle-like flower heads develop, blooming with soft, delicate light purple flowers. In Maine and in other places, the dried flower heads were once used in wool carding. This low-dose plant supports a healthy musculoskeletal system: muscles, bones, ligaments, and tendons. Teasel has a great affinity for the immune system and can be an essential catalyst. This lesser known plant also supports the vitality of the digestive system, encourages the body's natural detoxification pathways, and reinforces one's inner vitality and vital essence.

Teasel strengthens the integrity of a person's energetic boundary; supportive when feeling emotionally exhausted, depleted, discouraged, or vulnerable.

Garden Notes: This special biennial herb grows abundantly in our Biodynamic® gardens. The purple, spiky flowers attract lots of bees! We hand-dig the fibrous first year roots of Teasel from our gardens in the fall and tincture them immediately in organic alcohol, letting some of the flowers go to seed. Teasel reseeds easily in the garden, providing us with an abundance of plants each summer.

Taste / Energetics: bitter, slightly sweet, aromatic, clearing, stimulating.

When to reach for it: When in need of specific immune support. When embarking on a specific herbal protocol for supporting vitality related to the immune system, digestion, and connective tissue. A good herb to consult with an herbalist about.
